Ondo Court Remands Pastor for Allegedly Raping Daughter

A Magistrate Court in Akure, Ondo State, has ordered the remand of a 42-year-old pastor, Samson Ajayi, at the Olokuta Correctional Centre over allegations of serially raping his 17-year-old biological daughter.

Ajayi, a father of five, was arraigned on two counts of rape and defilement after his wife reported him to the police in Igoba, Akure North Local Government Area, alleging that he had been abusing their daughter for more than four years.

Prosecutor Supol Martins Olowofeso told the court that the offences were committed between March 2021 and August 2025 at the defendant’s residence. He said Ajayi admitted to the crime, claiming he was under a “generational curse” beyond his control.

The court heard that the abuse came to light when the victim’s mother found their matrimonial bed in disarray. After being persuaded, the girl disclosed that her father had been molesting her, leading to Ajayi’s arrest at a prayer mountain.

The charge sheet states in part: “That you, Samson Ajayi ‘m’, sometime between July 2021 and August 2025, at Igoba, Akure, in the Akure Magisterial District, did have carnal knowledge of your biological daughter (name withheld), ‘F’, 17 years.”

The alleged offences contravene Sections 3(a), 3(b), 3(c) and Section 25 of the Ondo State Violence Against Persons Prohibition Law, 2021.

Ajayi’s counsel, Kehinde Osadugba, urged the court to consider an out-of-court settlement, arguing that the victim’s mother had forgiven him as the family breadwinner. But Magistrate Taiwo Lebi rejected the plea and ordered the defendant’s remand pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

The case was adjourned to November 20, 2025, for further review.
